A literal understanding of text is a thing of the past. It is no longer enough to have students memorize facts or answer literal comprehension questions. (not to mention the fact that it’s boring!) Now, more than ever, students need to learn how to think, to engage in text, and to breathe life into what they are reading.  In this webinar series, BC teacher and author Adrienne Gear shares ideas from her popular book Reading Power.  Her practical lessons will help your students deepen their comprehension skills and engage in more meaningful reading experiences. Using the “gradual release instructional model”, she will then dive deep into the five reading power strategies:  connect, question, visualize, infer, and transform.  Lessons are modeled and many samples and favorite Reading Power anchor books are shared.
